Celebrate Calaveras Big Trees State Park this Sunday, February 19th by participating in the “Snowshoe Thompson Experience.”

The Calaveras Big Trees Association is delighted to offer this unique experience: a hike, lunch, and encounter with Snowshoe Thompson, the “Viking of the Sierra.”  Two sessions will be available, details on each are below.

Session One will be held from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, leaving from the Warming Hut on showshoes (weather permitting).  You will be treated to a guided hike which will take you to an encounter with Snowshoe Thompson (portrayed by Steve Hale).  The hike will be followed by a warm and delicious lunch in Jack Knight Hall.

Session Two will be held from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, leaving from Jack Knight Hall where you will be treated to a delicious lunch and then will proceed to the Warming Hut for a guided hike and your opportunity to meet Snowshoe Thompson.
