Explore the high country before it snows!

This beautiful spring-like weather has provided some unique opportunities for experiencing mother nature.  Ebbetts Pass remains open and offers access to areas that are usually inaccessible this time of year: Lake Alpine, Mosquito Lake, Kinney Reservoir, and the Carson River (all of which are currently either totally or partly frozen solid).  Interestingly, many of these areas were snowed in this summer but are now available due to our extended warm weather.

Photographer Dave Hargus recently took a trip over the pass and shared his photos with us.  Cedar Creek Realty’s Miles Gibbons also provided his shots of Lake Alpine; click here to view all their photos.

CCR Insider: We spoke to the Alpine County Sheriffs office today and confirmed that they measured the ice at Lake Alpine one week ago, and at that time it was 10 inches thick in the middle of the lake (common sense dictates that you do not walk or drive on the ice).
