About the Area
There are more than 29 million dead or dying trees in Northern California, due to bark beetles. Because of the years-long drought, trees (especially ponderosa and sugar pine) have been unable to defend themselves from the destructive bark beetles. Many agencies are working to remove dead trees so that they don’t pose a risk for fire, falling, etc.

What To Pack?
Each of our cabins has a fully-stocked kitchen including pots, pans, dishware, glassware and silverware. We also provide you with dish soap, dish detergent*, hand soap, trash bags, coffee filters, one roll of paper towels in the kitchen, and two rolls of toilet paper in each bathroom. We also provide the blankets, comforters, and pillows — but we do not provide the sheets, pillowcases or towels. We do offer a linen rental service ($18 flat rate plus $23 per bed, includes all sheets and towels). Cabins are also equipped with flashlights and/or lanterns, firewood** and fire starters**, and a snow shovel.
* The vast majority of our cabins have dishwashers, although not all of them.
** Provided where applicable; some homes have alternative forms of heat and do not need firewood or starters.
We make sure that your driveway is plowed on the day of your arrival. Some cabins have snow plow contracts (varies by homeowner) but others will need to be shoveled. A purple star on the top right corner of your check-in packet denotes that there is NOT a snow plow contract for your cabin, and you will need to shovel the driveway. A snow shovel is provided at each cabin. We can also provide you with contact information for private contractors if you would like to pay someone to clear your driveway and/or stairs.

Tire chains are required when chain control is in effect. The location and duration of chain control is subject to weather conditions and is determined by CalTrans. You can view current road conditions and chain requirements at the CalTrans website. It is important to note that having a 4WD vehicle does not replace the need for tire chains. The most common form of chain control requires chains on all vehicles except 4WD vehicles with snow tires on all four wheels. Highway Patrol will fine drivers in violation of chain control requirements.
